Welcome Wednesday – Featuring Taylor “Who Needs Turkey” Martin
If Taylor had it her way, this would be her entire Thanksgiving meal!
Welcome to Welcome Wednesday at the OuterBox blog! This week we are excited to catch up with Taylor Martin, our newest SEM Specialist. Taylor just started in October, but has already blown away the OuterBox team with her attention to detail and knack for creative writing. As always, I presented Taylor with some very tough questions – and she came back with some great responses!
Q. Describe your first impression of working at OuterBox.
I haven’t been here too long but I have realized a few things: everyone is really helpful, the quietest people are often the funniest, and everyone is a ping pong champ… except for me (womp, womp).
Q. What is the coolest thing you own that cost $25 or less
I have this really cool retro game joystick that’s always fun to play with once it gets colder outside and I’m stuck indoors. #ThingsHardcoreGamersSay
Q. Thanksgiving is coming up. Do you have a favorite thanksgiving food? Do you or your family have any unusual traditions you’d like to share with us?
My favorite holiday foods are the rolls, but I don’t have any atypical traditions surrounding them. For example, everyone has experienced sneaking food out of the dining room before everyone else came over, learning how to make homemade rolls,
blowing up the microwave because you left foil on the rolls and were henceforth banned from using a microwave.
Q. Can you name something you do everyday that most people do not?
Listen to music on an ’05 iPod
Q. What is your favorite book of all time? Movie? Band / Musician?
I don’t have any favorites, but I will say that Shonda Rhimes rules my Thursday nights in the fall, Audre Lorde’s poetry is life everlasting, and the Harry Potter films are the G.O.A.T. (excluding any new material Rowling adds to the canon)
Q. If you could choose any person in the world to be the next President of the United States, who would you choose?
Since she’s been in the public eye, Michelle Obama has shown such strength, charm, intelligence, common sense and confidence even in the face of heavy criticism.
Q. If you could combine any two animals to make your own hybrid species of animals, what would you choose and why?
This is a really hard question because ligers already exist, but I guess a human and a kangaroo…kangaroos have really muscular bodies.
Q. Name something that scares you that does not scare most of your peers.
Social interaction (just kidding! [kind of.])
Q. If you could give your kindergarten self one piece of advice in 5 words or less, what would it be?
Stop reading in the dark.
Q. You have the ability to travel to any time period in history, and you are allowed to bring back three items. What time period do you visit and what items do you bring back with you?
Do family stories count? I wish I had more family history from over the centuries. Oh, and my family’s old VCR so I could keep basic cable and still record my shows.
Great answers, Taylor. We’ve learned a lot today. I guess this would not be the optimal time to confess I’m still known to listen to cassette tapes on my old Walkman…while playing Commodore 64 games. Thanks for reading everyone, we will see you next week! In the meantime, I suggest getting to the grocery store before Taylor buys up all of the Thanksgiving dinner rolls!
