Welcome Wednesday – Now With (Slightly) More Batman References

Welcome to the latest addition of Welcome Wednesday on the OuterBox blog. This week I caught up with Justin Hoffman (he’s already heard whatever joke you’ve got brewing), our newly hired Online Marketing Intern. Justin attends Kent State University and will be graduating this winter.

What are you studying at KSU?

I am studying marketing!

What is your role at OuterBox?

Currently, I am an online marketing intern responsible for month to month SEO tasks for various clients. I’ve also acquired the nickname “J-dawg” from our senior SEM strategist, whom I work with daily.

What have you enjoyed most about working at OuterBox?

I’m only into week two of working here, but so far I’ve enjoyed everything! I’ve been immersed in online marketing for the better part of the last six years of my life so working daily with people who share similar passions and interests as mine is awesome. Plus I’m learning a ton of useful information!

What’s your favorite lunchtime spot in Akron?

I’ve had Subway and Pita Pit every day with the exception of one. At this rate, I will have tried every item on their menus by the end of next month. I have got to find something new (or wake up early enough to pack my own lunch). Suggestions please?

Now that Autumn has officially arrived, what is your favorite thing to do in the fall?

There are too many cool things about autumn to list. For one, it’s the season before my favorite season, winter (ski trips!). Among other favorites are October magic (go tribe!), watching OSU football and enjoying a cigar and a craft beer (porter or stout, please) next to a bonfire with friends.

Recently, OuterBox recently received job applications from Superman and Batman, but we only have one opening in the Superhero Department. Who should we give the job to?

Judging by the remaining questions on this questionnaire, it appears this is a loaded question that may determine my fate here at OuterBox. With that in mind, Batman

If you were stuck on a desert island and could only take three things with you, what would you choose? People are allowed to count as an item in this question, but Batman is not. (editors note: OuterBox does not consider people to be items, nor does it discriminate against batmen)

  • A soccer ball (Cast Away anyone?)
  • A doctor
  • A way to sanitize water. I learned my lesson after dying hundreds of time playing The Oregon Trail during indoor recess in elementary school. “You have died of dysentery”.

Select the superior system: SuperNintendo or Sega Genesis? (hint: Batman games were available on both systems)

SuperNintendo. Because…Mario.

What is the most impressive yet utterly useless skill you possess?

While at Cocoa Beach this summer, I learned that I was able to do a handstand for an infinite amount of time (or at least until I was tired). I thought that was really cool. Real world utility of being able to do a handstand = zero. Unless of course at some point in my life I decide I want to take up CrossFit.

At OuterBox, the occasional argument is known to be settled on the ping pong table; it’s ping pong diplomacy at its finest. If the ping pong table disappeared, what would you like to see replace it?

A dart board, Xbox 360 loaded with Halo 2/3/4 multiplayer or a billiards table. For now, I patiently await my first ping pong challenger.

What’s on your Netflix queue? If you don’t have Netflix, please just tell us what VHS tapes are on top of your VCR.

I am a serial Netflix watcher when I run across a good television series or trilogy of movies, so my queue disappears rather quickly. Breaking Bad, House of Cards, Walking Dead and Prison Break are some of my favorites! That reminds me, I need a new TV series on Netflix to dive into. Game of Thrones would be on this list too, but it’s not on Netflix unfortunately.

If you could host a dinner party with 3 people, living or dead, real or fictitious, who would you choose? Please do not choose Batman, we have plans that night.

  • Elon Musk – This man has forgotten one hundred times more about business and entrepreneurship in his life than I will ever learn
  • Ben Hogan – I want to know his “secret“.
  • J.K. Rowling – The author of my favorite childhood books deserves a place at my dinner party.

If a Genie granted you one wish, how would you use it? Wishes related to Batman are not only allowed but encouraged.

I would wish to never be tired again or need to sleep (yet still get the benefits of a full night of sleep). On average, we spend one third of our lives sleeping. That’s a lot of time I could spend doing something else!
