Founded in 2004, Soccer Innovations is a family-owned and operated business in Dallas, Texas. They create one-of-a-kind soccer training solutions and coaching equipment for recreational and professional teams. The innovations come from their own experiences as players and coaches. In 2022, it was game on—they came to OuterBox for SEO services looking to increase soccer ball sales.

Challenge

Premium soccer balls can be pricey. Soccer Innovations sought to change that by creating its own line of quality soccer balls at an affordable price. The product’s search space is competitive, dominated by major sports and athletic brands with major budgets on eCommerce platforms.

Solution

The team optimized category pages and created new sub-category pages based on an in-depth analysis of its competitors. The idea was to extend the content to include details on soccer ball sizes. Additionally, we optimized on-page content and created blog content that leverages Soccer Innovation’s expertise.

Results

Soccer Innovations has sustained healthy SEO since its start with us back in 2022. Over half of their 859 page one keywords (491) are new or improved in 2025 thanks to our focus on soccer ball content. They are also adapting to the new search landscape, using their expertise to populate AI Overview results. Since starting with OuterBox, they’ve seen a 17% boost in organic revenue YoY since starting with OuterBox.

Keeping Keywords On Goal

Soccer Innovations’ data shows that users often search for brands and specific details, such as size. Before this project, the Soccer Innovations website featured “Soccer Balls” in its product navigation, followed by brand subpages. Coaches and players know that soccer ball sizes affect player development and safety, especially for children. These subcategories presented a major opportunity not seen in many of their competitors, which typically stopped at filters on the ball and brand subcategory pages. Each ball size (3, 4, and 5) offered users quicker access to available products in their desired size, information about typical ages and uses for that size, as well as information about materials.

Bulk In Search

Searching “soccer balls in bulk”.

Another target had coaches in mind—they buy in bulk for practices, so optimized content helped to populate quantity-related queries. Previously unranked queries, such as “bulk soccer balls” or “soccer balls in bulk,” now rank below images around position four. By leveraging our experience and expertise, we achieved an increase in organic performance and revenue on a priority product without taking any timeouts.

AI Overviews for the Assist

A big concern in SEO currently is the rise of AI Overviews and zero-click searches, however, SEO content that highlights Experience, Expertise, Authority, and Trustworthiness (EEAT) is exactly what search engines and AI are looking for to populate their answers. On top of the new sub-pages and optimized website content, Soccer Innovations published a guide on soccer ball sizes.

Soccer Ball Size By Ages: A Guide was created as a helpful guide for parents and coaches to find the right size for their players. It featured over twenty keywords that were naturally folded into the guide, showcasing the company’s knowledge of the game and its equipment. This began showing up in AI Overviews as the content answered questions like “What size ball do I get a 5-year-old?”. Now the team is still getting shots on goal, both in traditional SEO results and in newer AI Overviews.
